5) Consistent Action

STEP FIVE: CONSISTENT ACTION

This is the part, unfortunately, where so many otherwise successful people trip and fall along the path to success! This is the other half of the “HOW” question. Okay, so you know the why (MOTIVATION), you have worked on conditioning your mind (MENTAL PREPARATION), you know what you want to achieve (GOAL SETTING), and you’ve bought the vehicle (RESEARCH and DEVELOPMENT) to carry you to your goals…so now what? What is the “kicker” that ensures success? How do you finally realize your plans and goals? How do you ultimately create an abundant life?

It sounds simple, but it is in fact the hardest (or most demanding) task in gaining success: consistent action! Yes, you absolutely must take some sort of specific action – large or small – every day towards your goal(s). This could be as simple as a decision or thought, or as complex as writing a real estate contract. The point is that you take some action! It’s the only way to see victory! Each of the four steps you’ve taken to reach step five are all consistent action. Keep going! Here’s another analogy: the mountain climber. The climber spends time each day exercising and meditating to prepare himself for success. The climber wants to climb Mt. Everest (the motivation is craziness?). He sets a goal of reaching the summit in so many days. He researches the mountain to develop a plan to reach his goal, gathers together equipment and crew, and off he goes to climb the mountain. But how does he climb? Well, of course he climbs by taking consistent action, step after step, movement after movement, camp after camp, day after day. And, the climber knows that if the mountain wins today, there is always the next day, or perhaps even another route to the top! The point is that some action is taken each day without exception along the path towards the goal.

Even if the action taken is small, you must begin somewhere! Let’s say you want to drop some weight. You motivate yourself (see yourself as thinner, healthier, happier, more confident), prepare yourself (meditate, prayer, self-talk), set your goal (specific weight loss and a time frame), research and develop a plan (dietary change and exercise program), and each day you take action! For example, the first day you might simply adjust your diet and ride a bike, the next day a little less food and longer on the bike, and so on! Remember to keep up the other steps at the same time! It’s really not as hard as it seems! Of course there will be those days that you had hoped to accomplish more! Hey, give yourself a break… you’re a human being for goodness sake! As much as we might wish it, we are simply not perfect! Positive statement! Keep working on the preparation of your mind and, believe in yourself! Build actions upon actions! Be consistent!

Consistent action also means that you use your success steps each day! It doesn’t work to set goals and not look at them again, or research and develop a vehicle and not ride in it! Set and achieve daily goals! Take that action each day while keeping in mind FLEXIBILITY (step six).

RULE: CONSISTENT ACTION is the ascent to the top! Action along a path achieves all goals. TAKE ACTION ON A DAILY BASIS! You can do it! Believe it! Be it!
