STEP FOUR: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (”THE VEHICLE”)
This is a major part of the “HOW” question. How do you achieve your carefully set goals and ultimately attain abundance in life? How do you get from here to there? What does it take to get there now that you have good ideas about WHAT you want and WHY you want it? How do successful people real-ize their goals? Is there a clear pathway to success?
ABSOLUTELY! There is a definite roadway to successful accomplishment of your goals! Step four is discovery of that road or trail. Or, if you already have ideas about how to meet each goal, this step will help you develop it (them) further. When traveling, you want to reach a destination (goal). It is a vehicle of some kind that will deliver you to that destination. So step four is to determine the “vehicle” for achieving success! It takes research and development to discover or uncover that vehicle (and the vehicle’s map or path/road)!
If you have already got a plan as to how to reach a set goal, then begin further research on the goal to educate yourself in order to develop the finer points of the plan (vehicle). But if you haven’t yet got a plan for reaching the goal, then you must research the goal in order to develop a vehicle that will get you there. Diligent research and development of the vehicle helps ensure goals. Makes sense doesn’t it? Let’s say you have a financial goal for investing but you’ve not invested money before. Some research may help you determine what “money markets” are and how they basically work. More research will help you develop a real plan (vehicle) for effective investing, say, in real restate, bonds or stocks.
Your sources are extremely important! Seek out positive resources of information, which support your values in both your preparation for success and the setting of realistic goals. For example, a book written ten years ago on buying real estate may give you “an old junky car” to ride in towards your goal; but seeking out a real estate agent to learn from and watch, while reading current success journals on buying property might give you a “Concord Jetliner” to fly to your goal. Surround yourself with the best sources of information for research and development of your plan. Seek out successful people and up-to-date resources!!
Above all, don’t become discouraged! Research and development (education) takes time and effort. But, if you have built a foundation in MOTIVATION, MENTAL PREPARATION, and GOAL SETTING, this step will be smooth, relatively fast, and most interesting! When you focus on one step at a time, the process is not a giant monster. Although termed “Research and Development,” this step is more accurately one thing: education! You should consider balancing you pursuits of success with a commitment to your ongoing education so that you constantly research and develop your pathway to success, keeping your vehicle in good repair. You will know how you got there!!
RULE: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (education) is the tool that buys the vehicle for flying to success. It is the keys to the success door! It is the “purchase” and maintenance of your vehicle!
